TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Tupelo’s Salvation Army is looking for some families and individuals who want to help spread Christmas cheer.

The “Angel Tree” is up at the Mall at Barnes Crossing. The tree is adorned with “angels.”Each “angel” has information about a boy or girl, their Christmas wish list and their clothes sizes.

Participants can then purchase the gifts, and bring them to the Salvation Army table near the tree by December 13th.

Officials say the program has a long lasting impact.

“I don’t know how many times I’ve been out at Christmastime and either been at a kettle location, a Christmas event or Angel Tree and somebody has come up to me and said ‘when I was a child, the Salvation Army helped us and we really were poor and we didn’t have anything and they helped us with toys and food at Christmastime”

The Angel Tree gifts will be distributed to families December 19th.
