CALHOUN COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — Calhoun County deputies have solid leads in the search for the suspects who opened fire on a Derma officer Tuesday night.

It all happened when Derma Officer Charlie Jackson made a routine traffic stop, but the driver fled into the woods.

A few minutes later, the car’s owner arrived on the scene and argues with Jackson before leaving.

Sheriff Greg Pollan says a short time later five or six shots were fired in the officer’s direction. Jackson was not hit, but two homes at the intersection of Enoch and Hamilton were struck.
