PONTOTOC, Miss. (WCBI) — In Pontotoc, a lady with no experience at growing vegetables is meeting with a huge measure of success.

In Pontotoc, backyard produce grower Janet Wilder is taken by surprise, in spite of the fact its something she has never done before, she is harvesting squash, zucchini, tomatoes, and more.

“I have absolutely no experience with gardening. I can grow flowers just about any kind of flowers, and I love my flowers,” said Janet Wilder, Pontotoc Backyard Gardener.

To say she has no experience is hard to believe. Since her husband Johnny built a raised level type garden with a middle divider, its giving her good access when it comes to nurturing and caring for her beautiful produce.

“Tomatoes and cucumber, squash, and I have a special section for my herbs. And I’ve enjoyed my herbs more than anything,” said wilder.

What makes the raised garden unique is that its built on a multi-level concept. And then there is the addition of the trellis.

“And so we started our cucumbers, instead of taking up so much space on the ground. They are growing up,” said Wilder.

If Wilder can harvest beautiful delicious organic veggies, her success should give a measure of confidence to anyone brave enough to try.

“I have absolutely no experience with gardening so this is our first try at it,” said Wilder.

Wilder credits the multi-level construction of her raised garden which causes her not to work so hard at growing her veggies.
