STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — Starkville aldermen are moving forward with a pathway construction project.

Last night at its regularly scheduled meeting, the Starkville Board of Aldermen accepted Columbus-based Phillips Contracting Company Inc.’s $1.1 million bid to construct a multi-use path along Lynn Lane.

The project would install a new walkway and bike lane, both of which would begin at the Sportsplex located on Lynn Lane, and stretch past Starkville High School’s rear until the street’s intersection with South Montgomery Street.

“Well, it’s a quality of life amenity,” Wiseman said. “Residents value the ability to use bike and pedestrian facilities for exercise, recreation and also for transportation.”

Wiseman said the project has been on the board’s table before he took office in 2009.
