STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — Starkville Board of Alderman continue to debate about the $2.55 million purchase of the Cadence building.

Several of the board members voiced their doubt about moving forward with the purchase of the property on 301 East Main Street.

Many requested better estimates and understanding about the future cost of the facility.

Three motions were passed with a 5 to 2 vote which include: estimates about renovations from an architect, building code inspections and an annual operational cost for the facility.

The facility if purchased will house the Starkville Police Department and the Municipal Court.

In other business, Alderman agree to issue $5 million in bonds to help create an industrial park in Oktibbeha County.

The Golden Triangle Development Link pitched the idea of a shovel ready, 300 acre site near the highway 25 and 182 bypass to city leaders and the Board of Supervisors.

Supervisors have already agreed to issue five million bonds.

Ensuring the finances were in place was the last big hurdle before a memorandum of understanding can ne issued.
