STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — Football weekends can make local merchants’ entire year a successful one.

The Greater Starkville Development Partnership (GSDP) anticipates more than $13 million in sales in Starkville alone.

That includes restaurants, hotels and local shopping.

That also adds up to more than $615,000 in sales tax revenue for a football weekend. Most of that money comes from general tax on merchandise, gas and other items.

GSDP anticipates more than 70,000 in Starkville for the game.
