STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)-Starkville withdraws some financial support, forcing an ambulance service to scramble to make up the difference. Aldermen voted this week to divert the remaining $30,000 dollars it committed to the ambulance service to other areas of the city’s budget. Supporters say the ambulance service can make up the difference through better billing to insurance companies or slightly higher fees. The service depends on $234,000 from Oktibbeha County, $40,000 from the city and $,000 MSU. About two-thirds of ambulance runs are in the city but city officials say they support the service through fire and police first responders.
