COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) -Two Mississippi Charter School Board members make their first of three stops in the state this evening in Columbus. They heard firsthand why Inspire Charter School organizers believe the school is needed in Columbus. Residents also gave their opinions on the school and asked questions about the plan.

The Columbus proposal is one of three still being considered by the state. An “Inspire” founder, Reverend Tony Montgomery, believes the meeting is a sign of good things to come.

“We’re loving it that we get to be the first school or the first community visited. So there is a lot of firsts in this and we’re just really excited about the opportunity to serve our community.”

A decision will be made by the State board June 2nd.
