Video: “Storm Spotters” Training Workshop

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Local emergency workers, utility workers, and even private citizens are learning to report severe weather to the national weather service.

The Lowndes County Emergency Management Agency hosted a “storm spotter” training workshop Tuesday (3/26).

Participants learned information to help them become skilled in spotting bad weather and providing timely and accurate reports to the national weather service.

“Bad weather can come at anytime. it can come one you quickly and the more eyes out there it can be helpful to the community,” says Dominic Rishe, Starkville.

Participants learned everything from the fundamentals of storm structure to the basics of severe weather safety.
