Student Athlete of the Week: Tradeshia Conner, Noxubee County HS Girls basketball

MACON, Miss. (WCBI) — Tradeshia Conner was a starter on last year’s Noxubee Lady Tigers basketball team that made it to the North State finals before losing. This year, the 5-3 senior guard has the team on track to another 20-plus wins and more tournament play.

“She’s always humble in and out the court. She shows great leadership. She has been a very, very important factor to the team as well as others,” said teammate Adrian Rice.

“She loves to talk and when she be at practice she’s trying to push and motivate us and try to make us go hard in the way we play,” said teammate Amanda Murray.

She’s averaging 11 points a game. More importantly, she hands out eight assists a game. Her coach appreciates that unselfish team approach.

“In practice she will always be there to say come on y’all, lets hustle lets hustle and she kind of keeps everything in tempo and keep the moral up for the team,” said Head Coach Jade Stewart.

Tradeshia’s parents Mary Lou and Trinity Conner Sr, both are Noxubee High graduates and both played sports there, but they’ve also made it clear that her education comes first. She takes the same approach in the classroom as she does on the basketball court.

“Problem solving. I love problems and I like to be challenged,” said Student Athlete Tradeshia Conner.

Tradeshia was playing three sports, but gave up softball to focus on track and basketball. She hopes to continue track in college while majoring in Kinesiology.

“I love sports. Sports is the best to me and being interacting with athletes and I know I would have so much fun with them, ” said Conner.
West Point visits Noxubee County Friday for senior night.
