COLUMBUS AIR FORCE BASE, Miss. (WCBI) – It was a chance to see their studies in action. Fifteen budding engineers from the Mississippi Summer Transportation Institute spent Wednesday at Columbus Air Force Base. The students are Juniors and Seniors who are interested in Science,Technology, Engineering, and Math. The tour highlighted engine testing and performance, and the aviation end of transportation. It was a powerful visual example of the concepts that they are studying.

“It’s pretty cool. The base is so amazing: the jets, and all of the airplanes, the tower, and stuff. It’s been really amazing to see everyone. Just how this air force base is is just a little city on its own.”

“If I had not come to the program. There are a bunch of things I would not have learned about.”
