TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI)- Teachers at Pierce Street Elementary got a special treat for lunch Friday.
School officials honored them by serving steak lunches.
Principal Kenny Goralczyk says this is just a small way of saying thank you for all of their hard work and to celebrate the success of their school ratings.
“Teacher appreciation day is usually in the spring, but we wanted to take an extra day, just to tell our teachers thank you for the hard work they do,” said Goralczyk.
“Not every school gets to do this but Mr. Goralczyk, he believes in us and Ms. Barnett she believes in us and you know, we’ve worked very hard last year and we’re going to be working hard this year. We really appreciate this,” said 3rd grade teacher Evanglina Stanford.
Pierce Street’s QDI is 13 points higher than it was last year. That’s the highest its ever been.
