STARKVILLE, Miss. – (WCBI) An Oktibbeha County jury hears from the victims of a graduation night shooting that left a teenager dead four years ago.

Testimony began this morning in the murder trial of 22-year-old Dennis Thompson, who was 18 at the time, of the shooting death of Curtis Randle outside a Starkville party venue in May 2010.

Thompson claims he was the victim of a gang assault earlier in the evening and he retaliated by shooting into a crowd with a 40-caliber handgun.

Witnesses today include at least two of three teenagers who were wounded in the gun fire.

Thompson is charged with aggravated assault in those cases. The trial is expected to last all week.
