COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — One Columbus Air Force Base organization wants to make sure some of their Airmen feel closer to home.

Once a month, the Military Affairs Committee makes a home cooked meal for the unaccompanied enlisted Airmen and Women.

For three years, the committee has provided dinners to not only help servicemen and women to feel at home but to create fellowship.

One Airman remembers making strong connections at his first dinner.

“I actually met both my two best friends here. I sat down and they were like hey you’re the new guy at work and so we’ve been together at work ever since going through training together and ranked together,” says Brandon Klakvik.

“That we can convey how much we do care about them in the community not only the military affairs committee but all of the community. We appreciate their service to the country,” says Lynn Robinson.

Each dinner has a theme such as breakfast for dinner.
