COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Dozens of folks throughout the Lowndes County came out to Wesley Methodist Church in Columbus to give a helping hand.

The nation-wide event “Stop Hunger Now” has volunteers package 25 cent meals to deliver for those in need. The meals included rice, beans, vegetables and different types of protein. This is the second time the church has held the event.

“The kids headed it up, the youth wanted to do something special and we tried to raise 25 hundred and we got 3 thousand dollars so we were able to package 12 thousand meals instead of ten,” says Reverend Diane Lemmon.>

The event “Stop Hunger Now” is based out of Jackson.
