TUPELO, MISS. (WCBI) – Three counties are benefiting from the donation of Toyota vehicles valued at more than $100,000.

Career and Technology Center’s in Lee, Pontotoc and Union counties are receiving two trial Toyota Corolla’s each.

These trial cars are built by staff at the Toyota plant, as they learn about the model and manufacturing process.

After the trial cars are built, they are donated to organizations to support vocational training, work force development and safety.

Toyota officials say they hope this will advance students learning.

“What we’re hoping is for them to be able to see the new technology that’s on the vehicle’s. Also maybe a student that wasn’t thinking about the automotive industry maybe we can spark some interest with that student and maybe they can be part of our workforce in the future,” said Kirk Manley, of Toyota Mississippi.

Toyota Mississippi has donated more than $1,000,000 and 10,000 volunteer hours to local organizations.
