OKOLONA, Miss. (WCBI)- A special judge could hear misdemeanor charges against Okolona Assistant Police Chief Romona Robertson as early as later this month. Chickasaw County Justice Court Judge Garry Turner is working with prosecutors and other justice court judges in the region to set a date. Turner is finding another judge after recusing himself from the case because he deals regularly with the Okolona Police. Robertson was stopped by the Mississippi Highway Patrol in December for erratic driving and speeding in a city patrol car. Troopers say they found pills in the car. She has pleaded not guilty to charges of DUI, speeding, failure to obey an officer and possession of a controlled substance. She has asked for a six-person jury to hear the case. She has remained on the job pending the trial.
