TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) -The Tupelo Airport Authority is still waiting on word from the Department of Transportation when they can officially launch new air service at Tupelo Regional Airport. Seaport Airlines will replace Silver Airlines which announced it is pulling out of the Tupelo market. At tonight’s board meeting there was discussion of the budget but no-official news about a startup date.

“We’re still in discussion. We’re hoping to know something in the next few weeks. At the earliest we’re talking October 1st, but we don’t know exactly, the exact date right now.”

Cook says they also haven’t completely narrowed down the route structure. Most likely Seaport will fly into Memphis, but there has also been discussion about Nashville. Silver is expected to pull out in November and Cook expects there will be a smooth transition to Seaport.
