TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Thousands of people from throughout Northeast Mississippi and several states spent their Fourth of July in Tupelo. The annual “All America City 4th of July Celebration” was held in downtown Tupelo at Fairpark. It featured music from several local bands, lots of food, activities for kids and other attractions, including a patriotic concert and fireworks show. This marked the second year the event was held at Fairpark. Area restaurants and businesses were opened for the crowds. Also, as in past years, Post 49 of the American Legion handed out American flags to people.

“Coming out to celebrate July Fourth is not only to remember what we have done in the past, and those who have died to give us freedom , but it’s to remind us of the opportunities we need to take advantage of for the future, to maintain that freedom and maintain those opportunities. ”

This year, donations for the flags will help the post rebuild its headquarters, which was destroyed in the tornado.
