TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — Representatives from several nonprofit organizations stopped by Tupelo City Hall to get blankets and throws donated by city employees.

Several weeks ago, the Tupelo’s Human Resources Department (THRD) set up a collection point to collect throws.

Since then, more than 120 throws or blankets have been donated by city employees and this morning, representatives from SAFE, Chick Fil A’s “Golden Tree” outreach and Harden House, were on hand to collect the items.

“We feel like this time of the year, it is so important we understand the meaning of giving back, encouragement, for all our citizens, that are in need, plus our children in need,” Cassandra Moore with human resources said. “So, we feel like at this time of the season to show the love and care we can give to them by giving back to the community.”

Each year the THRD takes on an outreach for the Christmas and Thanksgiving holiday season.
