Video: Tupelo Elementary Students Get Into the Giving Mood This Holiday Season

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Students at two Tupelo schools are giving back this Christmas season. Milam Elementary students are collecting non perishable food for the “Helping Hands” ministry.Each section of the school, or pod, is bringing a specific item, such as peanut butter, vegetable oil, cereal, and other food. It will be collected through December and taken to the “Helping Hands” headquarters the last day before Christmas break.

“We just want to make a difference in the community and show that anybody can do this and it’s not just , don’t have to be a certain age, don’t have to have a certain skill level, anybody can help out in the community, it’s your community, the more you put into it, the more you can have come out of it, we just want to help people.”

Lawhon Elementary is collecting items for a local food pantry.
