TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — Tupelo Mayor Jason Shelton took time this afternoon to give a rundown of accomplishments, challenges and other issues facing the city. Shelton gave his first “State of the City” address at the BancorpSouth Conference Center. Hundreds of people attended the annual report by the chief executive of Tupelo. Mayor Shelton took time to recognize the family of fallen Police Sergeant Gale Stauffer, he also paid tribute to officer Joseph Maher, who is still recovering from gunshot wounds he suffered when he and Stauffer were ambushed by a bank robber in December. Overall, Mayor Shelton said the first six months of his term have been an exciting time to see first hand how Tupelo, its citizens and municipal employees all work together.
