TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — This National Day of Prayer takes on special significance for those in the Tupelo area. They gathered this morning at the BancorpSouth Conference Center for a prayer service marking the national observance. There was a time of singing, then prayers were offered for local, state and national officials, along with first responders and those dealing with loss from Monday’s tornadoes. Organizers say it was also a time to give thanks.

“It’s very amazing all the damage we have in certain areas and no deaths occurred, I just count that as a blessing from the Lord, I really do,” said local pastor, Clarence Parks.

The prayer breakfast was sponsored by Mission Mississippi.
