TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – It was a chance for those impacted by the tornado that hit Tupelo to get a lot of questions answered from various agencies. Representatives from FEMA, MEMA and the Small Businesses Administration were at Tupelo City Hall Monday evening to hear from locals affected by the tornado. Residents asked questions concerning the timetable for debris removal,  how to apply for FEMA assistance and also how to apply for SBA loans. Officials stress the importance of applying for assistance quickly.

“The number one thing is if people haven’t registered for FEMA and they’ve had damage, they need to go into one of our disaster reception centers, recovery centers, there’s one on Court Street, here the old water and utility building,” said Thomas Kempton of FEMA.

During the meeting, Mayor Jason Shelton said representatives from all neighborhood associations, known as “Team Tupelo” will meet the third Monday of each month to gauge cleanup progress and address questions or concerns.
