TUPELO, Miss. – (WCBI) A partnership between a museum and theater means patrons of a popular production will be able to see art that has been in storage for years.

Starting Thursday night, the Tupelo Community Theatre begins a three day run of “Father of the Bride.” Those attending the event at the Lyric Theatre will also notice pieces of art from the Gumtree Museum’s permanent collection.

The art pieces are in the lobby of the Lyric Theatre and have been stored for years , with hundreds of other pieces.

“We have a great collection of local arts and we were really excited when the theatre contacted us to perhaps do a partnership to show the art for the duration of the “Father of the Bride” show, so we’re really excited to partner with them and showcase this great art that doesn’t often get pulled out of our vault to be shown,” Laura Ashley, with the Gumtree Museum of Art.

“Father of the Bride” runs through Saturday evening. Ashley says other public facilities may agree to showcase some of the museum’s art.
