ALCORN County, Miss. (WCBI) – More than 170 dogs, puppies and other animals have been rescued from two puppy mills in Alcorn County. Alcorn Corinth Animal Shelter workers along with Alcorn County sheriff’s deputies served warrants on the two mills this morning. Volunteers with the Humane Society of the United States helped those agencies recover 123 dogs suffering from a variety of medical conditions. The animals also had no access to food or water in their cages. In addition to the dogs and puppies, rescuers found ducks, goats, horses and other animals on the properties. The rescued pups are being housed and treated at various shelters across the state. Authorities say many of the dogs were being sold at a flea market in Tupelo.
