Video: United Way Continues Effort to Recruit Volunteers for Cleanup

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — The United Way of Lowndes County continues to plead for volunteers to help tornado victims.

The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) says 90 homes were damaged after five twisters hit Lowndes.

Right now, 13 homeowners need chainsaws and workers to carry debris.

Another ten need debris taken to the road.

The non-profit is also asking for food, cleaning supplies and hygiene items.

“We’re looking for people who want to volunteer in finance, construction, supplies and materials,” Lowndes United Way Executive Director Patricia Brock said. “We need volunteers in counseling and therapy. All different areas we’re looking for folks to step up”

A Toy Drive for kids impacted by the storm ends Friday.
