TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — The United Way of Northeast Mississippi hosted an information session today in Tupelo.

Volunteer Mississippi discussed several topics with the groups, including the availability of federal funds and access to resources such as AmeriCorps State and Senior Service Corps.

“There are a lot of community organizations that do a lot of great work throughout the entire state of Mississippi, we’re going around this summer and holding a series of information sessions so community organizations can come out and learn about these resources,” David Mallery with Volunteer Mississippi said.

“I think this would help us out tremendously, whether it be some after school tutoring, inviting volunteers to work on campus or to just assist children in some sort of way or even if it’s aesthetically for the playground itself in the future,” Emily Mabus with April’s Angels said.

Mississippi University for Women will host the next area seminar on July 16.
