TUPELO, Miss (WCBI) — A local Boys and Girls Club gets spruced up one week after being targeted by vandals. The Cal Ripken Senior Foundation hosted a “Clean Up Day” at the Northside Boys and Girls Club in Tupelo. The organization partnered with the local Home Depot and volunteers spent the morning painting over graffiti, spreading mulch outside and sprucing other parts of the facility.

Recently, the Northside club was targeted by vandals who stole some items and threw paint throughout the building.

“The Ripken Foundation has been partnering with the Boys and Girls Club for a few years now,” said Travis Punt. “We heard about the tornadoes and things like that so we partnered with Home Depot to come down and help cleanup and it just so happened the vandalism happened about a week ago so it so happens the timing kind of worked out despite the unfortunate event.”

“Today has just been a great day for Boys and Girls Club as we get ready to start back our after school program on the 11th, we’re ready,” said Zell Long.

Aaron’s Furniture donated a television to the Boys and Girls Club. Police are still looking for suspects in connection with the vandalism.
