LEE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — Officials with the Tupelo-Lee Humane Society say their property was vandalized over night, and it could be related to an online game where participants try to find hidden money.

The fence at the South Gloster Street animal shelter was damaged, cages, carriers and traps were broken and spread throughout the fenced-in area.

Shelter officials say they found several people walking the perimeter of the grounds this morning, claiming to be looking for money and clues in association with the “Hidden Money” Facebook game.

The coordinator of the game says he will never place the hidden money on private property. The game’s founder is encouraging those hunting for money to make a donation to the Humane Society.
