DETROIT, Ala. (WCBI) — The United States Postal Service continues to open village post offices, ensuring service in small communities.

Another such location opened this morning in Detroit, Ala. It will be inside the town’s only store, Bama-one-stop, on Highway 17.

Village post offices are opened in small community businesses. They provide postal products and services, stamps, prepaid packages and envelopes.

“Everyone is happy about it,” Bama-One-Stop Owner Keith King said. “They’ll be able to buy here, because a lot of people — those hours that they work at their regular job, they can’t get to the post office now to get their postage.”

The store is open seven days a week from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m.

A similar operation recently opened across the state line in the Monroe County community of Prairie.
