WINSTON COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — Volunteers are pouring into Winston County to aid in clean-up efforts, and to help residents get back on their feet. A couple of groups from Virginia are teaming up to do both. God’s Pit Crew and Mercy Chefs work as ministry partners to help with clean up and debris removal, and to feed displaced residents and volunteers.

God’s Pit Crew handles the heavy lifting, literally. They are fully self contained with equipment to cut up fallen trees, and haul them away. Mercy Chefs came prepared to feed 3,000 people a day.

Founder and Director of God’s Pit Crew, Randy Johnson said, “Storms have hit a little bit of everywhere here recently, and out of all the ones we have talked, we felt like we were needed the most here.”

The teams are prepared to stay in the area for at least two weeks.
