TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Crime Stoppers of North East Mississippi hosted their annual awards luncheon in Tupelo.

It’s a time for Crime Stoppers organizers to say ‘thank you’ to local media, law enforcement and the community for their support of Crime Stoppers.

Since 1992, the program has awarded more than $150,000 in reward money to tipsters, who remain anonymous.

Media representative of the year was awarded to WCBI’s own Allie Martin for his work with Crime Stoppers.

Organizers say without the work of the media, law enforcement and community, their success would not be possible.

“We have a sign up there that shows a three legged stool and as anything goes, a three legged stool wont stand without one of those legs and the legs are community, media and law enforcement,” said Bill Allen, with Crime Stoppers of Northeast Mississippi.

Law enforcement officer of the year was awarded to Tupelo Police, Neil Naron.
