LAMAR  and PPICKENS COUNTIES, Ala. (WCBI) –  Eight West Alabama towns will get an update Tuesday on legislation that should clear up a state Supreme Court ruling on alcohol sales.

Leaders from Reform, Sulligent, Aliceville, Guin, and Fayette will attend a meeting at the Alabama League of Cities to discuss the ruling that threw out the 2009 law allowing towns to have wet-dry votes.

Some legal experts say the ruling meant towns would have to shut down liquor sales.

But that hasn’t happened and the legislation is expected to correct the legal issue.
