WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) – The 87th Annual West Point Hall of Fame Banquet was held Thursday night honoring those who’ve made significant contributions to West Point and Clay County.

Each year the West Point/Clay County Growth Alliance recognizes deserving individuals who have a history of service, leadership skills and has made a difference in the lives of others. Congressman Alan Nunnelee gave the opening remarks and West Point native Roger Pryor was the keynote speaker. Pryor runs an architecture firm in north Mississippi and says he’s glad to support projects in West Point.

“This puts an appreciation for the arts front and center in West Point. That’s always been important to me and it’s been important to the leadership of West Point,” says Pryor.

Growth Alliance Board President Dwight Dyess says he plans to publicize all of the good things happening in West Point.

“Our theme tonight is “Our Secrets Revealed.” So we’re trying to get the word out about all the great things we have here in West Point and Clay County,” says Dyess.

Kyle Chandler, III and Archie “Arch” Murray were the 2012 Hall of Fame Inductees. Archie Murray’s award was presented posthumously and accepted by his son.

The banquet was held on the Community Counseling campus of the old Mary Holmes College.
