WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI)-It was a time of celebration for West Point Rotarians during their regular luncheon today [Thursday] at the Ritze. Special rotary guest Link CEO Joe Max Higgins referred to their get together as a fun time of remembering just what it took to land the Yokohama Tier Company.  The regional impact adds up to 900 thousand dollars in tax revenue benefiting parents and future students of the West Point School District.

“We can do some wonderful things with that type of money. First of all, the number of jobs. Teacher jobs, assistant teacher jobs. The resources that we can provide to help our students. Its just incredible,” said Burnell McDonald, Superintendent, WPSD.

“But it is a time of celebration. Everybody should be happy. This was a very large deal. But I don’t think we could have done it without a lot of partners putting it together,” said Joe Max Higgins, Link CEO.

Construction on the Yokohama plant is expected to begin in September.
