WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) – Clay County may soon have a new tool to improve response to a major storm or disaster. The West Point school district is donating a surplus school bus to the county Emergency Management Agency. The county will use a 27 thousand dollar grant and a Ambu Bus kit to transform the bus into an emergency transport vehicle. Only two ambulances serve the county. In the event of a major emergency, those would be stretched to the limit. With the converted bus, emergency responders could transport a large number of injured for treatment or take special needs patients or the elderly to safety.
