WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) – West Point School District officials made a visit to a very special teacher’s classroom.

It was all a surprise for West Point’s Teacher of The Year, Lacie Pumphrey.

West Point School District Superintendent, Burnell McDonald, along with other district representatives, presented Pumphrey with a plaque for her work and dedication to her students.

Pumphrey has been teaching at East Side Pre-K for three years and she says the award is  all because of her students.

“I’m just ecstatic and my kids are the ones who helped me earn the award, no doubt. They’re the ones that make me work hard everyday, that’s the reason I come here is to give them my best because they deserve the best,” said Teacher of The Year, Lacie Pumphrey.

During a surprise school assembly, school district officials also awarded Mrs. Wynesther Cousins at Central School for administrator of the year.
