WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) — The West Point Board of Selectmen has fired the city’s Water and Light Department superintendent of three years.

Selectmen made the decision to fire Dwight Prisock in executive session during its regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday.

Ward 5 Selectmen Gary Dedeaux made the initial motion, which received three yays. Ward 4 Selectmen Keith McBrayer recused himself from the vote as he chaired the meeting in West Point Mayor Robbie Robinson’s absense.

Prisock took to the City of West Point’s unofficial Facebook page (click here to view Facebook page) after the meeting, claiming the city is allegedly expected to see an electric rate increase.

Prisock was named the interim superintendent in 2010, but the next year, selectmen promoted him to superintendent.
