WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI)-West Point’s ultimatum gets a cable television giant’s attention. Tuesday (1-8-13), selectmen said if Comcast Cable didn’t sign a new franchise agreement within 30 days, the city would remove all the company’s equipment from city-owned utility poles and give cable service to another company. The ultimatum came after the company failed repeatedly to sign an agreement after almost a year of negotiations. After Tuesday night’s vote, Comcast’s top executives contacted the city and said everything was being signed and the more than $90,000 the company owes the city will be paid soon. In addition to the past-due amounts, the new deal will mean about $30,000 dollars a year in additional revenue for the city.
