OKTIBBEHA COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)-Oktibbeha County lake will be slipping and sliding come the July 4th holiday. The Wet ‘N’ Wild water park plans to open next week on Thursday. Former MSU basketball coach Rick Stansbury and John Barnett leased the lake from the county to build the water park, after the Army Corps of Engineers did not renew their lease on the lake last March. The park will feature several water slides including a 12-foot tall tower with double tunnel slides and a 40 foot tower with a speed slide and a reverse figure eight slide. A beach, concession stand and campground will also be available. Fishermen can still cast a line, just not within the 24 acres surrounding the park and campgrounds. The lake is also now a wake-free zone, and no water skis, jet skis, or towables are allowed.
