COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)-Inspite of Friday’s rain, Saturday turned out to be a beautiful day for folks to enjoy the 18th Annual Market Street Festival.

“What about the food? What’s your favorite food? Umm…Pizza,” says little Michael Sullivan.

For some, the different types of festival food is was brought them to this year’s market street, but for others it was to be with family.

Columbus resident, Jaynie Coleman and her husband have been attending Market Street for years and they say it’s annual tradition.

“We came to see our grandaughter dance this morning with a little group from Caledonia and then we wanted to come see all the arts and crafts and maybe find something good to eat,” says Coleman.

The morning started off chilly, but Coleman says the weather couldn’t be more perfect.

“I’m really glad it turned out this pretty today since it was a lot of rain last night it turned out real sunny,” says Coleman.

Each year the market street festival attracts visitors from all over to enjoy the festivities as well as catch up with old friends.

“The people because we get to see all of our old friends from Columbus. We’re from Starkville so when we come over here we get to visit,” says Michael Sullivan.

Sullivan says Market street is also a great place to purchase gifts for friends.

“We’re looking for gifts for teachers for teacher appreciation week,” says Sullivan.

More than 200 arts and craft vendors have their work on display including Chelsea Gainey a first-time vendor at this year’s festival.

“We have clothes, we have jewelry, we have earrings, we even have dog earrings,” says Gainey.

Gainey says Market Street is a great way to spread the word about her business.

“I recently started an online business, Hello Jonsie. I heard that it was really big with people and lots of traffic and that it was a really good place to get your name out there and sale stuff,” says Gainey.

Whether it’s the food, music, or arts and crafts vendors, one thing’s for sure, people keep coming back for more each year.

The Market Street Festival wrapped up around five o’clock this evening.
