WINONA, Miss. (WCBI)-After months of debating, the Winona City Board has adopted a school board appointment policy.
The decision passed 3 to one Tuesday night.
Under the new policy, the board of alderman will become more involved with the selection process of new school board members.
The policy also stipulates that potential candidates for the board must live in the school district, have a child enrolled in the Winona public school system, have a high school diploma or GED, and the school board is to provide the city board with at least two qualified candidates to choose from and the City Board reserves the right to interview applicants.
