Video: Wood Magic Fair at MSU

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — For the next five days, thousands of fourth graders from around the state are attending the Wood Magic Science Fair on the Mississippi State University campus.

Moving through twelve stations, students see demonstrations, get hands-on experience and learn interesting facts about wildlife, also conserving sustaining and utilizing trees which are our most abundant renewable resource. The students learned how durable plywood is made. And how wood is used in making paper and furniture.

“This event really helps educate the kids about the importance of the industry. And how we are managing it sustainability for the future so their kids will have the same resources that we have,” MSU professor David Jones said.

About 4,000 students are expected to visit the Wood Magic Science Fair. For every tree cut down in our state forests, five are planted to replace it.
