CHOCTAW COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)-Choctaw County School students are finishing up their third week in class after consolidation brought Weir, Ackerman, and French Camp under one umbrella.

Students, teachers, and district officials are “charging” forward with new vision and a new look in Choctaw County. By the way, that’s their mascot. The only hurdle they face now is reaching and scaling another, *higher* academic bar.” Now that those merger kinks have been all ironed out, Superintendent Beard, students, staff, and faculty are off to a good start. They are calling it, ” A Great Transition.”

“The kids have come in and they’ll correct you real fast if you say this kid is from Weir or this kid is from Ackerman. They’ll tell you themselves no we are from Choctaw County. So, we had that happen in a biology class the other day and it just kind of melted my heart a little bit there, we’re starting to grow together,” said Stewart G. Beard, Jr.

The Choctaw County High Chargers will have their first home game Friday night at Dale Davidson Field in Ackerman.
