NOXUBEE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)- Tyhendreon Wilson is only a freshman at Noxubee County High and he’s already making his mark. He’s going to the State Science Fair and will head to Arizona for a shot at competing at the international competition in Phoenix.

“I got interested in my project cause me and my aunt, we love to go fishing and every place we went, there were green mass on top of the water and it had different colors. I was wondering, why was that. So I got influenced to go out and search and I tested tepidity and clarity of the water,” said Wilson.

And he’s not alone. 3 other students won first place and two others placed second and third. They”ll represent Noxubee County at the State Science Fair in Jackson.

“What I’m talking about now is what are we going to do in 2050 when we have 10 billion people. One thing I found out was that only 3% of U.S. work is agriculture and it feeds the whole world,” said Senor Johnathan Orr.

“I wanted to create a food that can help you with writers block so to do that I had to look at some brain stimulation because that’s what writer’s block was, it’s when your brain is cluttered. I created brain stimulating food and I tested it on 1 or 2 people and the results came out good. They experienced less writer’s block than the people that didn’t eat the food,” said Junior LaStarr Adams.

And their mother’s couldn’t be happier.

“We have really a wealth of wonderful students that are capable and every chance they get they pursue endeavors like this,” said Tammy Adams.

The faculty is thrilled to see their students excel and looks forward to Tyhendreon’s trip to Arizona.

“He’ll get exposure to students from around the world and it’ll also help them to see students in Macon understand the research process, are involved in it, and are very excited about the work they’ve done,” said Byrant.

The students will head to Jackson State University at the end of the month.
