STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)- Starkville residents danced to the music and got in a pretty good workout during a Zumba fund raiser Sunday at the Starkville Sportsplex.

The exercise class helps raise money for an upcoming Multiple Sclerosis Walk.

Leaders say many people mistake Multiple Sclerosis for different diseases.

They want to educate Mississippians about it, especially women.

“Multiple Sclerosis affects us as women three times more. It’s a lot tougher on our bodies and so that’s one reason I want to really raise awareness for us as women to let us know, ‘Hey, we’re in a target age 20-50 years old to be diagnosed,'” explained Kristina Gore, one of the leaders of Sunday’s event, which was sponsored and hosted by The Cockrell Foundation and the The National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

More than 75 people signed up for Sunday’s class.

If you weren’t able to make it, leaders say they plan on having more in the future.

Kristina and Karen Gore are founders of The Cockrell Family Foundation.
