STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — You spend time searching for the perfect gift. It’s bought but then you find out it won’t be shipped until after Christmas. It happened to a Starkville mother and now she wants answers and her present.
“I would expect Walmart to fulfill what they’ve guaranteed and if they can’t then give us our money back so we can go elsewhere,” says Christian Vanderberg, who feels Walmart has not kept their word by guaranteeing their product delivery dates.
Christina Vanderberg was simply looking for a deal at Walmart. She went into the Starkville store and followed up online. Now, this mother finds herself in a jam. She ordered the gift in mid December and was expecting it to arrive by December 22nd. But on December 14th, she got an email saying it wouldn’t arrive until two days after Christmas. Her money was not returned. Instead the retailer gave Vanderberg a gift card .
“I’m very frustrated. I’m a single mom with three kids and Walmart guaranteed this product and I don’t have funds to just throw around and buy extra gifts and put out more money,” says Vanderberg.
Vanderberg says she spoke with management at the Starkville Walmart but they referred her to Walmart dot com, with no results. Now, Vanderberg says she has no other choice but to find another way to get the gifts she paid for.
“It’s forcing me, with a week til Christmas, that I got to come up with more money to either go buy that same product and pay more money for,” says Vanderberg.
Vanderberg says she hopes other holiday shoppers don’t have the same issue and to know that buying a guaranteed product is no guarantee. WCBI contacted the Starkville Walmart but was told by management to call the corporate office for an official response. WCBI also left a voicemail but our call hasn’t been returned.
