WCBI GM Apologizes

April 15, 2013

To the viewers of the Master’s on Sunday afternoon, please accept my apology for the unfortunate disruption of the final round coverage and playoff.

During a Broadcast Operations training session Sunday afternoon, a button was unintentionally clicked. This resulted in all three of our stations going off the air. Steps were taken to turn the transmitter back on with a normal reset. Our Chief Engineer was consulted, and a FULL shutdown was required. A full shutdown/transmitter start process was initiated. That required a slow cycle restart of the transmitter. It took 40 minutes after the process was started and a normal reset did not work.

It was a mistake, a human error, and a lesson learned.

WCBI operates 24/7/365. We have only been off the air due to technical or human errors less than 1/10th of 1 percent. Most businesses would take that as a great job. Not us. That’s because WCBI strives to provide the best programming and information for each viewer, every day. We work hard, every day, to meet that goal.

Thank you for your patience, your understanding, and always, your continuing support.
Again, please accept my apology. We will continue working to do the best job for you – our viewers.

Sincerely

Bobby Berry
General Manager
