Weather Affects Girl Scout Cookie Sales

(Press Release)

Girl Scout Cookies are only here once a year and when winter weather plagues two out of the four weeks it creates a recipes for disaster.  Girl Scouts are  asking the community to buy cookies to make this year a success.

“The success of the Girl Scout Cookie Program is critical to our ability to offer the world class experience to our girls”, said Melanie Schild, CEO of Girl Scouts Heart of the South. “Girl Scout Cookies do more than just taste good. They fund our future community leaders, teaching them crucial skills to be successful in life.”

Selling cookies teaches girls about goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills, and business ethics—aspects essential to leadership, to success, and to life.

Local Girl Scouts sell an average 215 boxes per girl. One hundred percent of the revenue after expenses are paid stays within the local council. Last year girls earned almost $800,000 directly for their troop treasuries. The council uses additional proceeds to support girls and volunteers.

The Girl Scout Cookie Program runs through this weekend, March 22. Find Girl Scout Cookies near you at GirlScoutCookies.org, enter your zip code, and you’ll see all the cookie both locations and times in your neighborhood.  Can’t find a cookie booth in your area?  Call the Girl Scout Office at 662-350-6042.
